BIOROCK certifications and approvals internationally

ECOROCK units have passed the On-site Effluent Treatment National Testing Programme (OSET NTP) which tests on-site wastewater treatment units at its testing facility (OSET TestFac) located within the Rotorua City Wastewater Treatment Plant.

BIOROCK is certified to meet the secondary effluent quality requirements of AS/NZS 1547:2012.

ECOROCK units are also certified to meet AS/NZS 1546.1 - 2008: On-site domestic wastewater treatment units - Septic tanks


ECOROCK units are tested at the PIA in Aachen in Germany (Notified body 1739) and at Certipro in Mol in Belgium for “Small wastewater treatment systems for up to 50 PE”. The units have passed the tests for Water tightness and Structural behaviour (crush test and pit test).

Part 1: Pre-fabricated Septic tanks

Quality productThe BIOROCK Primary tanks are tested for its efficiency at the PIA in Aachen in Germany. The hydraulic efficiency is 99.86%.


Part 3: Packaged and/or site assembled domestic wastewater treatment plants

The complete BIOROCK systems (Primary Tank + Bioreactor) are tested for biological efficiency at the PIA in Aachen in Germany and Certipro In Belgium.

Treatment efficiency
BOD5: 98.7 % (4 mg/l)
COD: 96.3 % (26 mg/l)
SS: 99.3 % (3 mg/l)

Part 6: Prefabricated treatment units for septic tank effluent

The ECOROCK treatment units (reactors) can also be installed after an existing Primary Tank (Retrofit).
